FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrode wire for electric erosion processing. Electrode wire comprises brass strand, layer of pure zinc formed by strand hot galvanising and zinc-coated base wire with thermodiffusion layer formed by thermal diffusion of said pure zinc layer and cold drawing strand. Pure zinc layer features thickness making 1.2% to 3.2% of electrode wire OD while thermodiffusion layer from copper-zinc alloy with zinc concentration varying from 50 wt % to 100 wt % features thickness making 0.36% to 1.08% of said OD. Note here that pure zinc layer is formed with thickness of said range and exceeding thermodiffusion layer. Note also that there no cracks on electrode wire surface.

EFFECT: higher stability of arc discharge, higher processing rate, better roughness of processed part surface.
