FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used in hammer shops for production of hollow parts. Barrel is extruded from cylindrical initial billet in three stages. Metal is extruded through axially symmetric PASS formed by fixed mandrel surfaces and larger stage of container through stepped bore. At first stage, bulge is formed nearby end face of billet. For this, billet is swaged by driven stamp on mandrel. At second stage, wafer is formed from bulge-face billet at mandrel. For this, driven stamp is displaced to apply axial force through container to wafer. Note here that diametral sizes of wafer are limited by surface of container bore larger stage. At third stage, barrel wall is formed by displacing driven stamp and container at a time. Sizes of initial billet, formed wafer and finished barrel are interrelated by claimed relationship.
EFFECT: higher quality.
