FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises bringing gas mix of initial materials containing spirit-base fuel in contact with catalyst of reforming in reforming reaction zone to produce gas mix obtained by reforming and containing hydrogen. Said catalyst comprises structure of carrier from metal sponge copper coat covering, at least partially aforesaid structure from metal sponge. It comprises also combining gas mix product with oxygen-containing gas to make gas mix containing oxygen and gas mix product, feeding it into ICE combustion chamber and combusting gas mix to produce that of waste gases. gas mix fed into combustion chamber contains, at least, 80% of hydrogen and other components produced in gas mix by reforming, releasing waste gas flow with mix of waste gases from combustion chamber, using combustion energy for generation of mechanism or electric power, and bringing waste gas flow in thermal contact with reforming reaction zone to heat reforming catalyst therein. Second version comprises feeding gas mix containing oxygen and gas mix product of reforming into combustion chamber and combusting said mix to produce waste gas mix. Said gas mix contains about 80% of hydrogen and methane from gas mix produced by reforming. Third version comprises bringing gas mix of initial materials containing ethanol fuel in contact with reforming catalyst containing copper in reforming reaction zone to produce gas mix product containing hydrogen, methane and carbon oxide component selected from the group including carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and mix thereof wherein methane-to carbon oxide component varies from 0.9 to approximately 125 and rate of methane is produced in gas mix at makes about 50% of ethanol feed rate. Said gas mix contains about 80% of hydrogen, methane and carbon oxide component from gas mix produced by reforming.
EFFECT: efficient use of spirit-based fuel for automotive engines.
