FIELD: heating systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to direct-acting alcohol fuel elements using solid acid electrolytes and catalytic agents of internal reforming. According to invention, fuel element includes anode, cathode, solid acid electrolyte, gas-diffusion layer and catalytic agent of internal reforming. The latter can be comprised with any suitable reformer, and it is located near anode. In this configuration, the heat generated in exothermic reactions on catalytic agent in fuel element, and ohmic heating of electrolyte of fuel element represent driving force for endothermic reaction of fuel reforming, which converts alcohol fuel to hydrogen. It is possible to use any alcohol fuel, for example methanol or ethanol.
EFFECT: increasing specific power and voltage of cell.
