FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: piezoelectric plate is excited by briefly connecting to an excitation source through a first switch and then discharged through a discharge resistor. After a period of time equal to one period of natural mechanical oscillation of the piezoelectric plate, the piezoelectric plate is short-circuited by a second switch, wherein the resistance of the discharge resistor is such that electric energy discharged on it when closing the second switch is proportional to mechanical energy loss in the piezoelectric plate over one period of its oscillation.

EFFECT: ensuring absolute damping of piezoelectric plates without deterioration of efficiency thereof as ultrasonic radiators.
