FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electrochemical preparation of a pure tungsten carbide powder having a developed surface and electrocatalytic properties. Electrolysis of a melt containing 35.0-45.0 mol% of lithium tungstate, 15.0-20.0 mol% of sodium carbonate and the remainder of sodium tungstate are conducted in open baths in galvanostatic mode at a cathode current density of 2.5-7.5 A/cm2.
EFFECT: stable electrolyte powder is obtained.
