METHOD TO DETECT STRESS SENSITIVITY OF TABLE CHICKENS Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A01K67/02

Abstract RU 2454861 C1

FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to livestock sector, in particular - to poultry keeping. To reduce the total stress impact, a solution of lithium citrate in a dose of 33-37 mg per 1 kg of live mass is fed via automatic drinking troughs 2 days before a test, on the day of the test and 2 days after the test. Chickens are tested by intracutaneous injection of 60-70% solution of turpentine into a gill area. Testing results are assessed in 21-36 hours, by availability or absence of inflammation symptoms - thicker gill, higher local temperature, apparent redness, palpatory tenderness. If such criteria are not present, the reaction is assessed as negative, and a chicken is recognised as stress-resistant. If all inflammation criteria are available - thicker gill of 0.4 cm and more, higher local temperature by 2°C and higher compared to an intact gill, apparent redness and palpatory tenderness, the reaction is assessed as positive, and a chicken is recognised as stress-sensitive. As a gill thickens by less than 0.4 cm, low redness, insignificant palpatory tenderness and higher local temperature by less than 2°C compared to an intact gill, the reaction is assessed as questionable, and a chicken is recognised as stress-ambiguous.

EFFECT: irritant in minimal concentrations causes development of a local adaptation syndrome, as a result usage of such method does not cause common stress reaction of an organism and makes it possible to achieve stable results.
