FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of diagnostics, and can be used in carrying out examination of thyroid gland. For this purpose two sensors of ultrasonic scanning are used: linear, with frequency 7.5 MHz and scanning depth 4-7 cm and convex with frequency 3.5-5 MHz and scanning depth to 20 cm. Volume of thyroid gland is calculated by formula: Vtg=(rlthickness×rlwidth×lrheight+llthickness×llwidth×llheight) × 0.479 ml(cm3)+2.84525+0.0344979*rtp height+0.0264189*(rtpheight*rtpwidth) - 0.0273851* (rtpheight*rtpthickness)-1.70574*rtp width+3.03702*(rtpwidth*rtpthickness)-2.98509*rtp thickness. Prefix RL stands for parameters of right lobe. Prefix LL stands for parameters of left lobe of thyroid gland, prefix RTP stands for processes of thyroid gland, originating from lateral surface towards trachea and esophagus. Under thickness of these processes the largest anterior-posterior dimension, measured in sagittal plane is meant. Width is extension between two maximally remote from each other opposite sides in frontal plane. Height is extension between two maximally remote from each other opposite sides in vertical plane.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to determine linear dimensions and volume of thyroid gland in the most exact way due to visualisation of thyroid gland sections which are located in area of its posterior surface.
