FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to surgery. Surgical approach is performed by Kocher cervicotomy. Thyroid isthmus is incised above trachea. Connective tissue is divided in a blunt way in the space between the trachea and the fascial sheath of the thyroid gland, and a portion of the thyroid gland is laterally retracted. Then the recurrent laryngeal nerve is separated from the inferior thyroid artery up to the entrance to the larynx under the Berry’s ligament. Under the visual control of the recurrent laryngeal nerve, the Berry’s ligament is dissected with access to the space between the fascial sheath and proper capsule of the thyroid gland. In this space, an upper parathyroid gland is visualized, mobilized and removed after ligation of the vascular pedicle.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to remove upper parathyroid gland with repeated surgical intervention in conditions of cicatricial changes of neck tissues with hyperparathyroidism, has low injuries, ease of implementation and fast postoperative rehabilitation, and does not require specialized equipment and tools for its implementation.
