FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: mixture of metal oxides and carbon are loaded in the electric arc furnace, under the slag on the metal-slag boundary the metal oxide is reduced with carbon, and limestone is thermally decomposed, and the gas obtained through the use of bubbles facilitates slag foaming. The mixture added in the form of moulded articles, such as briquettes or pellets, contains basic components selected from the group: iron oxide, in any form, for example, in the form of heat scale, dried converter dust or EAF/LF, sludge from converter, coke, graphite, ballast material for all grades of stainless steel in the form of FeCr, ferritic meal, ballast material for austenitic and duplex stainless steels in the form of FeCr, meal ferritic, austenitic meal, meal duplex, nickel oxide (NiOx), as well as binding material.
EFFECT: invention enables to develop the material by means of which foaming of slag with high content of chromium oxide is achieved.
