FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: electrolyser contains a casing maintaining the electrolytic bath under a high or very high pressure of a few scores of bars; positioned inside the electrolyser casing is at least one electrolytic plate (100) and a heater. The electrolytic plate (100) contains multiple electrolytic cells (8) positioned in line within essentially the same plane, each electrolytic cell containing an anode and a cathode, and a heater composed of multiple heating plates wherethrough a heat medium circulates, the heating plates positioned both sides of the electrolytic plates. The heat medium may be selected from among a gas, melted metal or melted salt. Additionally proposed are installations for production of gas (hydrogen, oxygen) operating on a power supply and a method for production of gases in the HP electrolyser.
EFFECT: HP electrolyser performance enhancement due to optimised consumption of electric energy at stable homogeneous temperature.
