FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus for detecting pulses in multiwire transmission lines has a control unit for coordinating operation of components of the device, a pulse generator which is connected to the connected line, a transmission unit, a signal processing unit, a connected line, external wires which form with the connected line a resultant structure in a nonuniform dielectric filling which is such that pulse-excited modes propagate in the structure with unequal delays, wherein the minimum difference between these delays is greater than the pulse duration. The pulse generator is not connected to the control unit. A receiving unit receives signals from the end of at least one of the external wires.
EFFECT: possibility of detecting pulses in multiwire transmission lines whose duration is shorter than the minimum difference between modes of the resultant structure.
