FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves machining of the workpiece surface and application of metal coating to it by means of electric-arc spraying. Machining is performed by cleaning and shotblasting. Coating containing copper or iron or alternating copper and iron layers is applied as metal coating. At that, there is no actual melting of coating material and formation of eutectics between the coating material and workpiece material at workpiece heating temperature during further hot deformation process. Coating is formed with external layer roughness 10≤Ra≤80.
EFFECT: improving adhesive properties of the coating and reducing its friction forces at hot plastic deformation.
