FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly, to production of 3D articles. Device 1 for layer-by-layer formation of 3D object 6 from powder material comprises electron gun 3 to generate electron beam 4 and working area 5 for distribution powder material therein and long which power beam slides during irradiation. Device 1 is equipped with system (12, 14, 16, 18) to feed controlled amounts of chemically active gas in contact with powder material distributed over working area 5. Said gas can chemically and/or physically react with powder material when, at least, subjected to irradiation by power beam.
EFFECT: decreased evaporation of alloying substances, adsorption of gas impurities, better wettability, lower porosity.
