FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry. The method of separating aluminium hydroxide crystals from a settling solution is realised by adding a crystal growth modifier which contains a C8-C10 fatty acid, salt thereof or mixture thereof, wherein carbon atoms are free from functional groups, an oil base and water. Aluminium hydroxide crystals are obtained. The emulsified crystal growth modifier contains a C8-C10 fatty acid, salt thereof or mixture thereof, an oil base, where content of said oil base in said modifier is at least 15 wt %, and water. To obtain aluminium hydroxide crystals, the emulsified crystal growth modifier is added to a Beyer process settling solution.
EFFECT: invention enables to reduce formation of a finely dispersed product with simultaneous shift towards larger sizes of oxalates, which can be easily separated from the obtained product.
