FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: image processing apparatus has a focus detector, memory, an establishment unit, a computing unit and a display unit. The focus detector is configured to detect the focusing state of the focus detection region by detecting phase difference between a pair of object image signals. The memory is configured to store an image which is photoelectrically converted and output by an image capturing device, the focus detection region and pairs of output image signals. The establishment unit is configured to establish the region designated by the user in the image stored in memory. The computing unit is configured to calculate defocusing values of the designated region using a pair of image signals corresponding to the designated region among image signals stored in memory. The display unit is configured to display information associated with the defocusing value of the designated region.
EFFECT: improved calibration of the defocusing value by displaying information associated with the defocusing value of the designated image region.
