FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: cover for spent fuel assemblies is made from stainless steel and includes at least two units, each comprising upper and lower spacer grids to which there tightly welded are hexagonal tubes for arrangement of spent fuel assemblies, and along the perimetre of each unit there connected to the above spacer grids is the corresponding lining so that tight inter-tube space is formed. Tight inter-tube space is filled with heat-conducting filling composition absorbing neutrons. In addition, longitudinal tubular elements are passed through each unit and located along longitudinal unit axis between edges of adjacent hexagonal tubes and tightly welded to upper and lower spacer grids respectively. Units are installed coaxially so that a gap is formed between adjacent spacer grids and connected to each other in detachable way so that hexagonal tubes of one unit are located in accordance with hexagonal tubes of the other unit.
EFFECT: invention allows improving operating characteristics of the cover for spent fuel assemblies.
