FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. In strip casting, fused metal on conveyor belt is subjected to electromagnetic stirring to apply magnetic field to said metal upstream of electromagnetic stirring zone. In hardening, at least one electromagnetic field is applied to outer hardened zones 11 of fused metal 10 for heating said zones. Uniform temperature field is created in cross-section of billet liquid core to decelerate growth of thickness of hardened crust and allows uniform heat withdrawal towards conveyor belt.

EFFECT: reduced internal strains, ruled out strip edges creep.
