FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques for analysing composition of gaseous mixtures, including mixtures containing components having an odour, and can be used to determine qualitative composition and quantitative content of gases in such mixtures, including when inspecting the environment for presence of maximum allowable concentrations which correspond to the allowable level of odour of gaseous components having an odour. The method of determining concentration of gaseous components in a gas-air mixture which corresponds to the irritant odour action, in which odour intensity of the gas-air mixture is varied, odour intensity of the gas-air mixture is simultaneously measured using an olfactometer and concentration of gaseous components therein is measured using sensors, and concentration of gaseous components which corresponds to the irritant odour effect is determined. At the odour intensity which corresponds to the irritant odour action, which is determined by the olfactometer, the concentration of gaseous components in the gas-air mixture is measured using a continuous monitoring multi-sensor gas analyser comprising the following sensors: semiconductor, thermocatalytic, luminescent, electrochemical, spectrophotometric, optical absorption, photoionisation, ion mobility and ion mobility increment, pre-calibrated using state standards of samples of chemical substances, and said concentration value is recorded as that which corresponds to the irritant odour effect based on measurements of at least two sensors with the least mean-square deviation.
EFFECT: increase in number of determined gas components, high reliability of obtained results, broader functional capabilities of the gas analyser.
