FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to method for modification of gas separating unit of device designed for catching liquid and solid particles from gas flow and to gas separator. Method includes disassembling of elements inside the separator and their removal through manhole. Then inside the separator there located are, at least, two separating devices, reducing sleeves and drain tubes. Separating devices are rigidly connected inside the separator. Drain tubes connect drain connections of all separating devices to hydraulic lock area. The separator is equipped with control unit capable of opening/closing the shut-off valves depending upon the gas pressure inside the separator. According to method of 1 version separator inlet connection is connected to the outlet connections of separating devices via reducing sleeves. There is a shut-off valve at the outlet of at least one separating device. According to method of 2 version separator outlet connection is connected to the outlet connections of separating devices via reducing sleeves. There is a shut-off valve at the outlet of at least one separating device. There is a description of separator containing housing, inlet, outlet, drain connections, at least, two separating devices with vertical housing, inlet, outlet, drain connections. Drain connections of separating devices are hydraulically connected to separator hydraulic lock area. Control unit controls shut-off valves depending upon pressure inside the separator.
EFFECT: extension of separator load range with reservation of separation efficiency.
