SUBSTANCE: drive circuit for a light-emitting device, which drives a set of series-connected light-emitting devices with direct current, has a direct current source connected in series with the light-emitting devices, a set of switches respectively connected in parallel to the light-emitting devices, a switch control circuit which independently controls on and off switching of the switches and turns all switches from the off state to the on state with the same timing. Also disclosed is a display device, having a backlight driving circuit which is the same as the driving circuit given above.
EFFECT: invention enables independent control of brightness of light-emitting devices, and prevents flow of excessive current through light-emitting devices.
