FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: at strengthening of surface of the items from titanium alloys there applied is metal coating of chrome or molybdenum, or zirconium, and treated with compression plasma flows in nitrogen environment at pressure of 0.4-0.5 kPa with energy density of 10-30 J/cm2 and pulse number equal to 2-3. Then, nitration with compression plasma flows is performed at nitrogen pressure of 1-3 kPa with energy density of 1-10 J/cm2 and pulse number equal to 10-15. Items are annealed during 60-75 minutes.

EFFECT: increasing micro hardness, and decreasing friction coefficient of surface layer of the items due to creation of fine strengthening phases.
