SUBSTANCE: invention relates to user equipment (UE) providing wireless communication services, and also a method to detect a mode of basic station operation, i.e. a mode of connection (mode of access) with a cell on the basis of the fact, connection of which UE is permitted by a basic station in an improved universal mobile communications system (UMTS). A cell is identified as a hybrid cell, when a bit of cell indication type is set as "FALSE", but broadcasting transfer of subscriber group information is carried out. At the same time to one or more UE in a specific subscriber group or to all UE in a cell, access is permitted selectively in the specified hybrid cell, and at the same time the hybrid cell is viewed by UE as a cell of a closed subscriber group (CSG), when identification information of the hybrid cell subscriber group belongs to a permitted list of the closed subscriber group (CSG) of the specified UE.

EFFECT: provision for detection of a cell access mode in a wireless communication system.
