FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: gas-diffusion layer for a fuel cell has a layer of conducting microparticles and a layer of basic material. The layer of conducting microparticles is formed with first pores not smaller than 0.5 mcm and not bigger than 50 mcm and second pores not smaller than 0.05 mcm and smaller than 0.5 mcm. Pores are also formed in the layer of basic material. Total volume of second pores is not less than 50% and less than 100% of total volume of all pores in the layer of conducting microparticles. For the correct size D1 of pores, having maximum volume ratio among the first pores, water passages are formed in the first pores separately from gas passages which are formed in the second pores. The invention enables to form a novel structure for separating water passages from gas passages in a gas-diffusion layer.
EFFECT: improved drainage characteristics in a gas-diffusion layer for a fuel cell.
