FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: independent system of obtaining and processing navigation information based on the image of a standard onboard stationary panoramic television camera is formed. Coordinates of two reference points are transmitted to a system for analysing images from the television camera, said reference points being the beginning of the airstrip and an arbitrary point on the airstrip which determines the direction of its axis, and video contrast elements of the image in the vicinity said targets are stored with restoration of their position on subsequent maps. The video image from the television camera is used to determine the angular position of the line of sight of the beginning of the airstrip relative the horizon and meridian lines, as well as using the height above the surface of the airstrip, lateral deviation from glide path.

EFFECT: high self-containment, reliability, accuracy, fault tolerance of the automatic landing system, lower operator qualification requirements and broader capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles.
