SUBSTANCE: invention relates to apparatus and a method of obtaining X-ray images. The apparatus for obtaining X-ray images for obtaining information on phase shift of X-ray radiation caused by an object comprises: a splitting element for spatially splitting X-ray radiation emitted by an X-ray generator unit into X-ray beams; an attenuator unit, having a device consisting of attenuation elements for receiving X-ray beams split by the splitting element; and an intensity detector unit for determining intensity of X-ray beams attenuated by the attenuator unit; and an attenuation element which constantly varies transmission of X-ray radiation depending the point where the X-ray radiation falls on the element.
EFFECT: high quality of the image of an object with improved edges.
