FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to meteorology and can be used to diagnose convectional hazardous meteorological phenomena (thunderstorm, hail, squall, heavy rain). Minimum radiant temperature values of the cloud top are measured. Atmospheric thermobaric characteristics are determined. Air pressure values at different levels are measured by vertically radio probing the atmosphere. The overshooting of the 500 hPa surface relative the 1000 hPa surface and the Laplacian operator of the geopotential field of the height of the 850 hPa isobaric surface are calculated. Presence of a focus of a convectional hazardous meteorological phenomenon is determined from the obtained data.

EFFECT: high reliability of determining convectional hazardous phenomena at any time of the day, broader functional capabilities (possibility of diagnosing convectional hazardous phenomena for all seasons of the year).
