FIELD: meteorology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of meteorology and can be used to determine areas of probable icing in convective clouds in order to ensure aviation safety. Essence: when conducting surface observations, the height of the lower cloud boundary, air temperature and atmospheric pressure are measured. The vertical profile of the air temperature is restored to the height of the isotherm -20°C in convective clouds using an adiabatic model, in which the cloudy air rises with a given step on the pressure scale. At the same time, the temperature and height of the cloudy air are calculated at each step of the ascent. The presence of zones of probable icing in the clouds is determined in the layer from the height of the location of the isotherm 0°C to the height of the location of the isotherm -20°C.
EFFECT: expanding the possibilities of use.
