FIELD: instrumentation.

SUBSTANCE: they measure the least radiation temperature of thermal radiation, leaving upper areas of cloud sheet, air temperature near Earth surface, corresponding to this area, surface atmospheric pressure and height of lower border of cloudiness. Following measurement results, they calculate air temperature TA from the upper to the lower limit of the convective cloud with specified discrecity. They compare the calculated value of temperature TA with the value of temperature Ti of unknown isotherm. If TA ≤ Ti, then isotherm height is the height of arrangement of the cloud air at this step.

EFFECT: possibility to detect height of any isotherm in a convective cloud, possibility to use the method for various regions and seasons without specification of empirical coefficients.
