FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to engine control unit (ECU) forming a part of multimode engine system and having the possibility of being operated in different modes. Operation is performed in the first or the second modes. Only the first fuel is supplied to engine (6) at operation in the first mode, and mixture of the first and the second fuels is supplied at the operation in the second mode. Engine (6) includes the first ECU (4) and the second ECU (54), and the first (18) and the second (56) sensors. The first ECU (4) and the second ECU (54) control the fuel consumption in the first and the second modes respectively. The second (54) is functionally connected to the first ECU (4). The latter includes the following: receiving device for the first input signals (22) from the first sensors (18) and outlet device for generation of the first output signal (24). The first output signal (24) determines the quantity of the first fuel supplied to engine (4). When in operation in the second mode, the second ECU (54) converts the first output signal (24) to receive the first converted signal (66) and the second calculated signal (68). The first converted signal (66) determines the quantity of the first fuel supplied to engine (4) at operation in the second mode. The second calculated signal (68) determines the quantity of the second fuel supplied to the engine at operation in the second mode. Also, the invention describes operating method of engine (6) in the first and the second modes.
EFFECT: possible control of parameters measured with the first sensors at the engine operation in the second mode.
