FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: low-temperature adjustable black body radiation source has a black body radiator, a heater and a thermometer placed in a cold chamber. In one version, the device includes a wide-aperture array of below-cutoff waveguides which overlaps the output aperture of the source and is thermally connected to the cold wall of the chamber. In another version, the device includes a superconducting thin-film filter which is thermally connected to the cold chamber and is a superconductor film with aperture energy which corresponds to the cutoff frequency, having an array of openings whose size is less than half the given cutoff wavelength.
EFFECT: suppression of the low-frequency component of black body radiation when used in the terahertz frequency band.
