TUNABLE NOISE SIGNAL GENERATOR Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC H03B29/00

Abstract RU 2796347 C1

FIELD: radio engineering.

SUBSTANCE: measuring techniques, namely devices designed to measure weak signals used to calibrate the sensitivity of cryogenic amplifiers and detectors in the gigahertz range. In the tunable gigahertz range white shot noise generator, the superconducting tunnel junction is formed by at least one metal-insulator-metal (MIM) type junction with a linear current-voltage characteristic, and has an impedance matched with the impedance of the high-frequency path. The source of electric current is configured to control the spectral density of the noise current.

EFFECT: expanding the range of adjustment of the output noise level of a cryogenic generator starting from a noise temperature equal to the physical temperature of the generator, a significant reduction in the applied power of the source and the elimination of overheating of the cryostat, the possibility of integrating such a generator on the same plate with the device being calibrated, compatibility in manufacturing process with cryogenic amplifiers, detectors and mixers based on superconducting tunnel junctions.
