FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: neutron detector has a source of charged particles arising under the action of neutron radiation, wherein the source of charged particles is made from stable non-radioactive material. A charged particle absorber is placed opposite the source of charged particles. The source and/or absorber of charged particles are electrically connected to gates of field-effect transistors and the field-effect transistors are connected to a circuit for detecting change in transistor channel resistance. The field-effect transistors are connected in opposite arms of the bridge electrical circuit.
EFFECT: avoiding fissile material, reduced sensitivity to background radiation, enabling measurement of the time dependency of flux in case of pulsed neutron sources, enabling multiple use and easy technical implementation.
