FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: device includes deforming elements, mandrel to fix the gear wheel workpiece, hydraulic cylinder and mechanical pulse generator with a striker and a waveguide. Mandrel is installed on waveguide of mechanical pulse generator. Waveguide is made so that static load can be applied to it, and periodic pulse load can be applied to it by means of the striker. Deforming elements are made in the form of a deforming ring with profile of internal working surface, which corresponds to the processed external shaped profile of gear wheel workpiece, and a core for processing of a central hole of gear wheel workpiece by surface plastic deformation. Deforming ring is fixed on support plate with possibility of free rotation relative to longitudinal axis.

EFFECT: enlarging manufacturing capabilities, increasing the depth of strengthened surface layer, reducing the roughness of processed surface.
