FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: workpiece from porous carbon-graphite material is made and slip coating based on silicon powder and temporary binding agent is formed on it. After that it is heated in closed space in inert atmosphere or vacuum in Si vapour to 1700-1900°C with further keeping in said temperature interval for 1-3 hours and cooling. Workpiece heating to 1500°C is performed at atmospheric pressure in nitrogen from 1500 to 1700-1750°C - at atmospheric pressure in argon, heating from 1750 to 1900°C is performed at pressure 1-860 mm Hg with further keeping in said temperature and pressure intervals. Cooling is performed at pressure 1-350 mm Hg.
EFFECT: increase of reproducibility of results from mode to mode, including manufacturing large-dimension products.
