FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to structural materials operated at high thermal stress and oxidising medium and may be used in chemical, petrochemical industries and metallurgy, etc. Blanks are made from porous graphitised carbon to produce slip coating thereon composed of silicon powder and temporary binder to be heated to 1700-1900 °C at barometric pressure or in vacuum. Then they are cures at said temperature for 1-3 h and cooled down. Heating to 1500 °C is carried out at barometric pressure in atmosphere of nitrogen while, to 1500°C - 1700-1750 °C - at barometric pressure in argon or it mix with nitrogen.
EFFECT: simplified process, uniform distribution of SiC and free Si.
