FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to structural materials operating in conditions of high thermal load and oxidative medium and can be used in chemical, petrochemical and chemical-metallurgical industries, as well as aircraft engineering to make articles and components of structures exposed to aggressive media. The method involves making a workpiece from porous carbon-graphite material, forming a slurry coating thereon based on a composition prepared from a powdered siliconising agent and a temporary binder, heating the coated workpiece to 1800-1900°C in a vacuum or at atmospheric pressure in an argon medium and holding in said temperature interval for 1-2 hours. The siliconising agent used is powdered silicon nitride or silicon with an outer coat of silicon nitride, and the workpiece with the slurry coating is heated to 1700-1750°C at atmospheric pressure in an argon medium, followed by heating to 1900°C in a vacuum at atmospheric pressure in an argon medium.
EFFECT: simple method of making articles from carbon-silicon carbide material while maintaining uniform distribution of SiC and free silicon in its volume.
