FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to structural materials operating in conditions of high thermal load and oxidative medium, and can be used in chemical, petrochemical and chemical-metallurgical industry, as well as aircraft engineering. The method involves making a workpiece from porous graphitised carbon material, forming thereon a slurry coating from a siliconising agent and temporary binder, followed by siliconising the workpiece. The siliconising agent used is silicon nitride and/or silicon encapsulated in a silicon nitride cladding. The siliconising process is accompanied by heating to temperature of 1550-1650°C at a rate of at least 200-350 degrees per hour and reactor pressure of 600-760 mmHg, which is lowered to 300-1 mmHg when temperature in said interval is achieved, wherein higher temperature corresponds to higher pressure and vice versa; continuing to heat to 1800°C at a rate of at least 100-200 degrees per hour at reactor pressure less than or equal to 36 mmHg; holding for 1-2 hours at 1800-1850°C and cooling. Crucibles with silicon can further be placed in the load during siliconising.

EFFECT: providing quality impregnation of components with molten silicon on the entire thickness, high surface cleanliness and high strength of carbon-silicon carbide materials.
