FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to structural materials operating in high thermal load and oxidative medium conditions and can be used in chemical-metallurgical industry to make articles and structural components exposed to aggressive media. The method involves making a carbon fibre-reinforced plastic workpiece from porous graphitised carbon material, heating in a closed volume in an inert atmosphere or in a vacuum in silicon vapour to temperature of 1700-1900°C, holding in said temperature interval and cooling in silicon vapour. Cooling to 1300-1400°C is carried out at pressure of 1-36 mm Hg and at a rate of 100-150 deg/h, optionally with isothermic holding for 1 hour at 1650-1600 and/or 1600-1550 and/or 1550-1500°C. Before treatment in silicon vapour, a slurry coating is formed on the surface of the workpiece from a composition of fine carbon powder or a mixture thereof with silicon carbide and a temporary binder. After cooling to 1000°C, the workpiece is treated in a nitrogen medium while raising temperature in steps 1400-1500°C with isothermic holding at intermediate temperatures.

EFFECT: obtaining articles from carbon-silicon carbide material with low permeability and high oxidative resistance.
