FIELD: fire-prevention facilities.

SUBSTANCE: method relates to the field of forest management and can be used to determine the forest fire location. The method according to the invention comprises identifying the most fire-hazardous areas of peatlands, location of vertical wells at the area territory, location of perforated pipes in the wells, filling the pipes with smoke-generating pyrotechnic composition, recording coordinates of the wells on the forest fire map, layout of patrol routes, patrol observation of smoke, determining of fire edge smoke by location of the smoke over the wells, recording its coordinates on the forest fire map. The pipes are filled with pyrotechnic composition in separate layers which include smoke-generating agents which vary in colour of the emitted smoke. The depth, power of the separate layers and the colour of emitted smoke on the forest fire map is recorded.

EFFECT: invention provides improved accuracy of determining the location of peat fire by fixing the depth of the front-fire, by layered filling of the perforated pipes with layers of different smoke-generating agents.
