FIELD: fire-prevention facilities.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of forestry, more precisely to methods of determining the location of peat fire. The method of determining the location of peat fire comprises identifying of the most fire hazard areas of peatlands, location of vertical wells on the territory of the areas, installation of perforated pipes into the wells, filling the pipes with smoke-generating pyrotechnic composition. Along the axis of the perforated pipes the smoke-conductive perforated pipes are mounted. The space between the pipes is filled with the pyrotechnic composition. The coordinates of the wells are recorded on the forest fire map. The patrol routes are divided, the patrol smoke surveillance is carried out. The boundaries of the fire are determined according to the location of smoke over the wells, its coordinates are recorded on the forest fire map.

EFFECT: method, compared to its analogue, provides increase in accuracy of determining the location of peat fire due to installing in the wells of smoke-conductive perforated pipes which increase the intensity of smoke-generation.
