FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Method for engine consists in deactivation of individual valve mechanisms of cylinder in accordance with cylinder deactivation scheme selected based on detonation characteristic of each engine cylinder. Selection includes selection of the first cylinder, detonation characteristic of which is higher than threshold value, for deactivation at maintenance of activated second cylinder, detonation characteristic of which is below threshold value. Embodiment of the method for the engine and an engine system are disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of ignition lag when controlling detonation.
