METHOD TO DETECT AREA OF POWER TRANSMISSION AND COMMUNICATION LINES DAMAGE AND DEVICE FOR ITS REALISATION Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC G01R31/11

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in sending probing voltage pulses into a line, reception of reflected signals and determination of a distance to irregularities and areas of line damage by time delays of reflected pulses relative to probing ones. Probing is carried out at two opposite ends of line sections in turns. Information on distances to irregularities is sent to a single centre. The damaged section is determined by comparison of produced and stored information from one source. Confirmed distance to the area of section damage is calculated on the basis of data received from its both ends. Sequence of sending and receiving pulses, and also transfer of information into a single centre is synchronised by sync packages received from this centre. For this purpose the device is equipped with a subunit of sync packages decoding.

EFFECT: unambiguity and high accuracy for detection of damage areas in non-uniform branched lines of arbitrary configuration, automation of line diagnostics process, reduced time for damage detection.
