FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to system automation and relay protection an is intended to be implemented in devices for determining damaged points of power transmission lines, in monitoring devices of arc extinction of power transmission lines and measuring elements of remote protection. Essence: method involves storage of information on parameters of power transmission lines and electric main in the form of models, obtaining of operational information on parameters of emergency mode and number of the mains mode, transfer of operational information on parameters of emergency mode and number of mains mode for calculations, calculation of distance to the damage and the required bypass zone of power transmission lines on the basis of parameters of emergency mode, number of mains mode and models. At that, the information on parameters of power transmission lines and the electrical mains, which is stored in the form of models, is corrected from time to time on the basis of results of active power transmission lines sounding.
