SUBSTANCE: method can be used for measurement of distance to damaged area, as well as for selection of damaged branch in branched power line. Amplitude-frequency characteristics k(f) of power transformers, connected to any branch of distribution networks, are measured preliminary. N probing pulses are generated sequent with frequency of filling fm on base of conditions as km(fm)=0, ki(fm)≠0 при i=1÷n; i≠m; m=1÷n, where n is number of branching. Reflected pulses with frequencies of filling fm are received. Number of branching, where damaged of line occurred, is determined from presence of reflected pulse in all the reflectograms with like delay time and absence of reflected pulse with frequency of filling fi from i-th power transformer, corresponding to i-th branching.
