FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: threshold number of smoothed points in a unit is generated; two-dimensional spatial representation of the electronic image is divided into M≥2 units with size of q per l points; the next m-th unit of the electronic image is identified as smoothed, for which K-level, where K≥1, wavelet transformation is performed on said unit to form k-th level wavelet transformation coefficients of points of the unit; the value of the generalised coefficient of the k-th level wavelet transformation of each point is calculated; the dispersion value of the next m-th unit of the electronic image is calculated; each point is identified as a smoothed point of the k-th level wavelet transformation, if for that level its value of the generalised coefficient is less than the calculated threshold value of the corresponding level of wavelet transformation and the calculated dispersion value of that unit is less than a threshold dispersion value of the unit formed in advance.

EFFECT: high reliability of detecting smoothed units of an electronic image formed during falsification of the image.
