FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes reduction of lumpy iron-containing material in reducing shaft furnace with the help of reducing gas. Obtained particles of sponge iron is melted in melting reactor with supply of coal and oxygen-containing gas with simultaneous formation of reducing gas which is supplied to reducing zone of shaft furnace. Introduced alongside with charged material into process is finely divided ore and/or dust ore, for instance, oxide iron dust formed in metallurgical process. Finely divided ore or dust ore together with solid carbon carriers is introduced into at least one coal-dust burner of melting reactor, and burning reaction is conducted at their ratio below stoichiometric. The plant has system for dust transportation which has sluice gates, injector and pipelines. Cyclone for gas cleaning and dust trapping is connected by means of transportation system with coal-dust burner of melting reactor. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 17 cl, 4 dwg
