FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; methods and devices for production of liquid conversion pig iron from iron ore. SUBSTANCE: at the stage of preliminary reduction iron ore is preliminarily reduced in melting cyclone by means of reducing process gas produced from the stage of final reduction. To melt iron ore at least partially in melting cyclone, subsequent burning of reducing process gas takes place. Partially melted iron ore passes down to metallurgical converter located below the cyclone in which final reduction takes place with supply of coal and oxygen to form reducing process gas. In metallurgical converter, partial subsequent burning of reducing process gas takes place due to supply of oxygen to converter. Coefficient of subsequent burning of gas at the outlet of metallurgical converter is determined as ($$$+$$$)/($$$+CO+$$$+$$$) and amounts to not more 0.55. Coal is supplied directly into slag layer to obtain partial subsequent burning in metallurgical converter at least, partially, occurring in slag layer. The device for embodiment of the method has melting metallurgical unit made in the form of converter which forms common reactor together with melting cyclone located above it. Opening communicating the cyclone and converter serves simultaneously for passing of partially melted iron ore from cyclone to converter and for passing of process gas from converter to cyclone. The device is provided with boiler for steam generation and means for gas dedusting located successively in pipeline for discharge of process gas from melting cyclone.
