FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: measurement system (1) and method for determination and/or monitoring of measured medium (5) flow rate via measuring tube (4) with one first ultrasonic sensor (2) and at least one second ultrasonic sensor (3), out of which the first ultrasonic sensor (2) includes at least one electromechanical ultrasonic conversion element (6.1-6.6), and the second ultrasonic sensor (3) includes at least two electromechanical ultrasonic conversion elements (7.1-7.6). Ultrasonic signals transmitted with the first ultrasonic sensor (2) through measured medium (5) are received with the second ultrasonic sensor (3), and ultrasonic signals transmitted with the second ultrasonic sensor (3) through measured medium (5) are received with the first ultrasonic sensor (2). At least one control/evaluation unit (8) determines volume and/or mass flow of measured medium (5) flowing in measuring tube (4) by means of passage time difference method. At diagnostics stage, ultrasonic signals are transmitted from the first ultrasonic sensor (2) through measured medium (5) to the second ultrasonic sensor (3); at least one parameter is determined out of the accepted ultrasonic signals for each electromechanical ultrasonic conversion element (7.1-7.6) of the second ultrasonic sensor (3), and based on the parameter of the accepted ultrasonic signals (10), electromechanical ultrasonic conversion element (7.1-7.6) of the second ultrasonic sensor (3), which is active at the next measurement stage, is chosen.

EFFECT: creation of the method and flow measuring system, the sensors of which can be arranged on the pipeline and require no complex mutual orientation.
