SUBSTANCE: apparatus for continuous or periodic monitoring of water for bacteria has a reactor and at least one line for feeding reagents into the reactor and at least one reagent feeding device, as well as at least one measuring device for detecting presence of microorganisms, where the reactor has a reactor chamber and a filtrate chamber which is separated from said reactor chamber by a filter, where the water feeding line and the reagent feeding line empty into the reactor chamber, and at least one water outlet line comes out of the filtrate chamber, and the controller fitted on said device is configured to force a pump/valve means to direct a given amount of water into the reactor chamber and through the filter, and feed a given amount of reagent into the reactor chamber.

EFFECT: high reliability and sensitivity of detecting bacteria.
